TALENT MANAGEMENT | CREATIVE DIRECTION INSPIRATION

Aljamaal Jones is a sought-after executive talent with diverse creative experiences in and around the business of music. Smart, reasoned, adaptable, and innovative in his approach to developing unique strategies for success, he is a well-known as a professional, trusted, leader and counselor.

Jones mastered his understanding artist endeavors by spending over two decades knee-deep in the business. During the mid-90’s in his hometown of Atlanta, he was first known as a talented dancer – and is many times credited with having been among the early innovators of the unique “Atlanta” style of dance that was later made famous by recording artist Usher in his “Yeah!” music video. As a dancer, Jones toured with legendary artists including Mary J. Blige. By the year 2000, he naturally progressed to greater creative contribution as Choreographer, where he originated & developed movement, staging, and performance style for pop and R&B superstars including Destiny’s Child, Puff Daddy, 112, Mario, Ne-Yo, Monica, Jagged Edge, and Ciara. It was in 2004 with Ciara that Jones added an additional title to his list of responsibilities: Music Director. He executed technical programming and production, creating a signature sound and feel for the starlet’s live shows – on which he was also still dancing, choreographing, and creative directing. Rounding out his myriad experiences as a choreographer, Jones contributed to Madonna’s “Sticky and Sweet” Tour in 2008.

Next for Jones was a strategic decision to transition into artist management. Asked by then Vice-President of Universal Music Publishing to join the management team of Interscope Records artist Keri Hilson, he first fulfilled the position of Day-to-Day Manager for the artist. Jones was at her side through the recording, release, and promotion of two top-10 R&B albums “In A Perfect World (2009),” and “No Boys Allowed (2010)” – and logged double-duty as her Road Manager on Keyshia Cole’s “A Different Me” Tour, Lil’ Wayne’s “I Am Music” Tour, and Ne-Yo’s “Year of the Gentleman” Tour – all in 2009. Jones managed each intricate detail of the movement of this label-priority artist, including recording, music video & photo shoots, promotional appearances, support staffing, and television performances on major programs including The Today Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, VH1 Divas Salute to the Troops, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, and the Soul Train Awards.

In 2015, Jones acquired principle management of Hilson, and continued to support her through projects including acting for film and television, speaking engagements, appearances, brand endorsements, the creation of her non-profit foundation, recording, and live performances.

Throughout the two-thousand teens, Jones was regularly consulted for his expertise in the areas of Talent Management, Creative Direction, Music Direction, A&R, and Artist Development, and counted Motown Records – legendary within the institution of American Black music – as his client, amongst others. He co-created the Atlanta-based music production team Red Kulture, with whom he has collected credits with legacy artists including Johnny Gill, and contemporary gospel artist Isaac Carree – whose 2020 album release Jones also oversaw management on.

In 2019, Jones and team created music for the tone-setting integral opening scene of Emmy award winning HBO series “The Watchmen.” Last year, Jones enjoyed the impact of his contribution to the blockbuster HBO series “Lovecraft Country,” for which he produced multiple music performances appearing on-screen.

Also in 2020 – as the music industry ground to a complete stop during pandemic times – Jones pivoted his talents in a different creative direction. He stared a new business from his living room, hand-making the fabric face masks then urgently needed for public safety. Since April of that year, he has contributed to the sale and production of over 12k masks – with the end not yet in sight. The brand has since expanded to include custom-designed adult apparel, each piece of which is carefully and individually produced to perfection by Jones.

In 2021, Jones added actress Brandee Evans to his client roster. The NAACP Image Award nominee received critical acclaim for her outstanding performance as lead in the television series “P-Valley” (Starz), which has been renewed by the network for a second season.

An influential leader with a lifetime of incredible experience, Jones is most proud of the way he makes people feel. His dispense of thoughtful counsel is nearly always inspirational in nature, and his non-stop ability to problem solve in forward-thinking, unique ways is unmatched. Jones interprets his purpose as being a vehicle to move the culture ever forward. His work to meet that goal is constantly in progress, through intentional choices to be the greatest version of himself in service of his family, his clients, and the business that he loves.
